Toyota...a brand long synonymous with reliability, a brand that is constantly ranked at the very top of the global auto industry, and now, brand that is now under seige by problems. With a long list of troubles, from safety concerns regarding brakes and accelerators to disrupted production as a result of the 2011 Fukushima emergency, Toyota is now forced to conduct yet another massive recall for safety reasons.
This time around, the Japanese car manufacturer is issuing a notice that concerns an estimated 420,000 vehicles in the United States. The culprit? Suspected crankshaft pulleys that may contribute to steering issues. While Toyota can breath a sigh of relief that the defect has thus far not resulted in any accidents, this recall is the latest in a seemingly continuous stream of Toyota safety and reliability problems. Since 2009, these problems have pushed the carmaker into recalling or fixing millions of vehicles across the world. More details about this most current recall can be found on both Toyota's and Lexus' website.
